STATEMENT OF INTERIOR MINISTRY AND PROSERCUTOR’S OFFICE MADE PUBLIC
As in the previous years, for the past period of 2003, crime detection showings have been high, total number of crimes has decreased, about 3 thousand wanted criminals have been detected and detained.
In the current year, in particular, in Baku, some dangerous criminal gangs have been neutralized. As a whole, 1569 criminals, who have committed over 600 gang offences, have been detained throughout Azerbaijan.
According to the completed criminal cases, legal and physical entities have been paid property damage compensation to the amount of over 5 billion manat.
As stated that as a result of especially prepared joint measures, was exposed a criminal gang comprising 30 people, including Nadir Shikhzadayev, Gulnaz Babayeva, Vugar Dunyamaliyev, Bakhtiyar Agayev and others. Of them, 18 were detained and given to the investigators, the others are wanted. In the course of investigation, it was approved that in the last 2 years, the dangerous criminal group committed in the Barda region and Nasimi, Narimanov, Sabunchi and Khatai district of Baku, 65 numerous crimes, stole property of the citizens at colossal amount. Among their crimes are murders, murderous assault, attempt, robbery, about 50 theft and other crimes. In the course of search, 1 submachine gun, 3 pistols, numerous ammunition, and narcotic substances were impounded.
As a result of joint measures, was established and involved to the criminal responsibility, a criminal group comprising Ramin Salimov, Stansilav Yakushev, Ramin Novruzov and Tamerlan Anatagiyev, who committed crimes against the citizen of Great Britain and Canada, as well as another criminal group who committed robbed citizen of Austria.
One of the main tasks in the field of ensuring human rights and freedoms is restoration of the infringed rights of the people, who suffered as a result of crimes. So far, work on reveal of the committed crimes in the past years was also under control.
The work, conducted in the field of guarding the objects of strategic importance, prevention of criminal attempts, aiming at theft of fuel-lubricant materials, as well as transported pipes and appropriate equipment, was continued under particular control.
It has to be reminded that as a result of expedient and special measures, realized to prevent the acts with financial and economic damage to the bases of country, were neutralized and brought to responsibility three groups, comprising residents of Baku, citizens of the Russian Federation, the Chechen nationalities.
Besides, as a result of successfully conducted operational-investigation measures, were revealed a criminal gang comprising citizens of Azerbaijan and Georgia led by citizen of the Russian Federation Sultan Musayev from Chechnya, who was accused for forgery of identification cards, passports, driver licenses, and other documents, as well as, receiving information through computer on the acting in Baku Banks of the US, Japan, Swiss, Saudi Arabia and other states, - credit cards and securities stole from about 40 shops of industrial goods at amount of 28 million manat.
Community of the Republic can be sure that the work conducted on keeping the situation under control, combat against criminality and preservation of order, ensuring lawfulness and norm of legislation, will be further resolutely continued in accordance with the expedient and effective policy conducted in the Country.
