Stockholm, June 19, Nargiz Jafarli, AZERTAC
Sweden’s Diplomatic World Sweden website has published an article about the participation of Azerbaijan’s COP29 Presidency delegation in the 62nd session of the UN Subsidiary Bodies on Climate Change (SB62), held from June 16 to 26 in Bonn, Germany.
The article emphasizes that the Azerbaijani delegation actively participated in the negotiations, organized its own events under the COP29 Presidency, and took part in various mandated and thematic sessions. This, the article notes, demonstrates Azerbaijan’s commitment to playing an active role in global climate negotiations and contributing to the development of multilateral environmental diplomacy.
The article further points out that the Bonn June Climate Meetings are considered a key preparatory stage for the 30th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which will be held this November in Belém, Brazil.
During the meetings, participants are discussing a range of critical issues, including the development of indicators for a global adaptation goal, the promotion of a just energy transition, the implementation of the “Baku to Belém” roadmap aimed at mobilizing $1.3 trillion in climate finance, as well as ongoing efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
