The European Azerbaijan Society marks 10th anniversary

An event marking the 10th anniversary of the European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) and the "Visions of Azerbaijan" magazine has been held in Baku.
The event brought together Azerbaijani President`s Assistant for Public and Political Affairs Ali Hasanov, Deputy Head of the Azerbaijan President's Administration Novruz Mammadov, state and governmental officials, MPs and representatives of the society.
A video about the society’s activity was demonstrated at the event.
TEAS Chairman Tale Heydarov highlighted the history of the Organization, as well as its activities in a number of countries.
Mr. Heydarov said TEAS was actively involved to "Justice for Khojaly", campaign initiated by the vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva: "The campaign annually organizes events in European countries. The documentary “Endless Corridor” filmed by Lithuanian and American filmmakers and won numerous international film awards, are demonstrated during these events. As part of the “Justice for Khojaly" campaign, the “Khojaly Witness of a war crime: Armenia in the Dock” book by foreign experts was published in English.” The Chairman also spoke about the works done by the Organization in delivering Azerbaijan`s realities across the world. The Chairman said the Society prepared petitions, carried out measures against propaganda campaigns against Azerbaijan.
TEAS Chairman also spoke about the activities of the society in the direction of propagation of culture, art and history of Azerbaijan. He noted “Azerbaijan through the Eyes of Foreigners”, "Mugam" and others documentaries were made, popular symphonic work "Khojaly 613" by French composer Pierre Thilo was supported, and its performance was organized in European cities.
Azerbaijani President`s Assistant for Public and Political Affairs Ali Hasanov addressed the event.
More than 50 numbers of "Visions of Azerbaijan" magazine with a circulation of 250 thousand had been released.
The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) is a pan-European organisation dedicated to raising awareness of Azerbaijan and fostering closer economic, political and cultural links between that country and the nations of Europe.
As well as promoting the positive aspects of Azerbaijan, TEAS also highlights the plight of the 875,000 refugees and Internally Displaced Persons within the country. TEAS was launched in November 2008, having initially been established by Tale Heydarov as the London Azerbaijan Society in 2006. The organisation now has offices in the UK, Belgium, France, Germany and Turkey, along with a representative office in Azerbaijan.
