A seminar on "Protected Area Management and Regional Economic Development through Ecotourism in the South Caucasus Region" was held at the Enterprise Centre of AIOC.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, with assistance from InWent, an international capacity-building German company.

The main topics covered during the discussion included the development of mountain tourism, agro-tourism and ecotourism in protected areas.

The participants of the seminar were involved in roundtable discussions on the various aspects of the tourism industry in Azerbaijan and worldwide, as well as on international co-operation projects.

“We reached several main objectives by facilitating this event,” a representative of InWent said. “We shared the results of the InWent seminar with other institutions and people involved in ecotourism development and protected area management in Azerbaijan, raised key issues and facilitated a discussion on various tourism topics identified by the seminar participants.”

About 50 representatives from various government agencies and NGOs involved in social development, business community and independent researchers from various institutions took part in the seminar.
