Construction of the transport corridor of the Europe-Caucasus- Asia (TRACECA) – Silk Road is intensifying.

Far-seeing policy of the President Heydar Aliyev on restoration of the historical Silk Road successfully continues, head of the foreign relations and investments department ‘Nagliyyat Servis’ of the Ministry of Transport Nazim Gasimov told AzerTAj correspondent. Reconstruction of the 46-km Alat-Gazimammad motorway is to be completed in the next year.

Currently, at the 21st km of the Ganja-Shemkir motorway, are being carried out land excavation, asphalt laying, construction of bridges. The road is planned to be commissioned in 2005.

Other parts of the road via the territory of Azerbaijan are being designed.
