TV stations from 50 countries buy rights to broadcast European Games

On 21 June, the European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023 will begin in Krakow. TV stations from 50 countries around the world have bought rights to broadcast the competition, and the list is still not closed, according to the official website of the European Games 2023.
The producer of the European Games’ television signal is the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). An agreement on this with the Association of European Olympic Committees (EOC) was finalised last summer. Under it, the EBU gained exclusive media rights for the next two European Games - this year’s edition and the one in 2027.
“This is a milestone for the European Games, which will take the event to a new level. The partnership with the EBU for the next two editions will provide sports fans with the opportunity to follow European sports stars, many of whom will be competing for a place at the Olympic Games,” said EOC President Spyros Capralos at the time.
There has been a lot of interest in the European Games broadcasting rights in individual countries and it goes beyond Europe. At the moment, broadcasting rights for the Games have been acquired by television stations operating in 50 countries around the world. The event will be seen not only in European countries, but also in South America. In Poland, the rights to broadcast the European Games have been acquired by Telewizja Polska.
The list of stations may be extended, as negotiations with interested broadcasters are still underway.
The 2023 Krakow-Malopolska European Games will begin on 21 June, when the Opening Ceremony will be held at the Krakow City Stadium. Around 7,000 athletes from 48 countries will take part in the event. They will last until 2 July.
