Vietnamese, Chinese border forces conduct joint patrol

The Na Hinh Border Guard Station under the Lang Son provincial Border Guard Command of Vietnam and the Pingxiang border management company of China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on June 25 conducted a joint patrol along a section of the two countries’ shared border and held talks on cooperation in border management and protection in 2026, according to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).
The joint patrol covered the area between border markers No. 1055 and No. 1059. It reflected the friendship, mutual understanding and trust between the two sides in coordinating border management and protection, while reaffirming their commitment to maintaining regular joint patrols, exchanges and consultation mechanisms.
The two sides reviewed cooperation results over the recent period, noting that they have effectively maintained hotline communications, exchanged letters and organised both regular and ad hoc meetings. These mechanisms have enabled them to promptly share information and coordinate the handling of issues arising along the border in accordance with the Agreement on the Management Regulations of the Vietnam–China Land Border, and the minutes of the Joint Border Committee and related cooperation arrangements.
In the fight against crimes, smuggling and illegal border crossings, the two sides have continued to coordinate closely in managing and protecting border areas and border markers. They have also stepped up awareness campaigns among border residents and workers, encouraging strict compliance with legal documents governing border management during farming, production and construction activities.
These activities have contributed to maintaining security and public order in border areas and ensuring that the borderline and markers remain stable, clearly identifiable and effectively protected.
To improve the quality and efficiency of the border management and protection coordination, both sides agreed to continue implementing the three legal documents governing the Vietnam–China land border and relevant minutes of the Joint Border Committee's meetings. They pledged to further promote communication among border residents and enhance information-sharing through hotlines, and direct exchanges, particularly regarding natural disasters, disease outbreaks and other issues related to border management.
The two forces also agreed to coordinate in advising local authorities on the construction of border and border gate infrastructure, the installation of surveillance equipment and the management of aviation-related activities in border areas in accordance with bilateral agreements and established procedures. They will continue working together to facilitate the approval and implementation of projects to improve border visibility and strengthen joint border management and protection.
