We must invest in decarbonization technologies, says COP28 President
Baku, October 10, AZERTAC
“We must invest as wisely in adaption as mitigation. That means investing in new energies and existing decarbonization technologies. It means building real climate resilience, while creating tangible new pathways for low-carbon growth,” said Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, COP28 President, UAE Special Envoy for Climate Change and Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, as he addressed the “TROIKA Roadmap to Mission 1.5: Enhancing International Cooperation” event, co-hosted by the COP28, COP29, and COP30 Presidencies on the sidelines of the Pre-COP29 event, themed “Enhance Ambition and Enable Action” in Baku on Thursday.
“Through the enhanced international cooperation we can ensure that equity is embodied in climate focus and that we don’t leave anyone behind,” the COP28 President noted.
He noted that the world’s largest climate event provides an excellent opportunity for discussing each country’s commitments in an open manner.
Describing the international cooperation as key at every level, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber said that multilateralism can and will play a role here. In this regard, he urged the parties to share best practices and implement advanced technologies.
