World juniors and girls chess championship is in progress in Nakhchivan. At the XI round, having drawn with Belarus Sergey Azarov, the Azerbaijani player Shahriyar Mammadyarov toped the list. Meanwhile, another Azerbaijani Gadir Huseynov beat the American player Dmitriy Schneider and reached the leading group, while Vugar Hashimov’s draw with Pentala Harikrishna brought him 7 points in all. The youngest player of the championship Eltac Safarli defeated his Indian rival Abhijeet Gupta gaining 6 points. In the girls’ section, having won all the games Nana Dzagnidze from Georgia tops the group with 8.5 points.Azerbaijani Zeynab Mammadyarova defeated the Turkish contender Zahra Topeli and took the second place.
