Baku, April 10, AZERTAC
The Military Police Department of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan was established by order of the Minister of Defense on April 10, 1992, the Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.
Monitoring discipline in military units, ensuring compliance with the rules of conduct by military personnel, maintaining law and order at troops’ deployment areas, and ensuring the safe movement of military convoys are among the primary activities of the Military Police.
Military police squads serve day and night at stationary and mobile checkpoints in human settlements and along military transport routes, conducting pass control and ensuring the implementation of the daily routine by servicemen during service and combat duty.
During the 44-day Patriotic War, as well as anti-terror and other operations, the personnel of the Military Police rendered significant services in organizing commandant service in the liberated territories, as well as protecting strategic roads and important facilities.
During both combat operations and the post-conflict period in the liberated territories, the Military Police fulfilled tasks on organizing commandant and patrol services, promptly securing key strategic facilities as territories were liberated, establishing commandant posts, and handing over weapons and equipment left behind by Armenian army units to the relevant authorities.
Moreover, dogs specially trained at the Cynological Center functioning under the Military Police Department are involved in mine detection activities, guard duties, and other service-related activities.
