China Global Television Network highlights Azerbaijan's role in Eurasian transport projects VIDEO
Baku, March 11, AZERTAC
The international Chinese television network China Global Television Network (CGTN) presented a report dedicated to the growing role of Azerbaijan in the development of international infrastructure projects and economic integration within the framework of the “Belt and Road Initiative.” The report was based on an interview with Tamilla Mammadova, an employee of the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC).
The video emphasizes that Azerbaijan today is one of the key transport and logistics hubs in Eurasia. The country is actively integrated into the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, which connects China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye. This route provides a shorter and safer path for transporting goods to Europe compared to traditional maritime routes, making Azerbaijan an important transit link in international trade.
According to the report, the development dynamics of the route are impressive: in 2024, approximately 287 container trains were sent from China to Azerbaijan, which represents an increase of more than 80 percent compared to the previous year.
Large-scale infrastructure projects play a special role in strengthening the transport corridor. Among them are the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, the modernization of port infrastructure in Baku and Kazakhstan’s Aktau, as well as the creation of modern logistics complexes. The implementation of these projects allows transportation distances to be reduced by thousands of kilometers and significantly accelerates the delivery of goods between Asia and Europe, opening new opportunities for business and international trade.
The interview also emphasizes that China is expanding its cooperation with Azerbaijan not only in the transport sector but also in energy, the development of renewable energy sources, and the digitalization of the economy. This strengthens economic ties between the countries and creates new prospects for industrial cooperation.
The author mentions that Azerbaijan’s participation in the “Belt and Road Initiative” enhances the country’s status as a regional transit hub, contributes to the creation of new jobs, and attracts foreign investment. In the long term, Azerbaijan is becoming a full-fledged partner in forming international supply chains, developing logistics and industry, which directly contributes to sustainable economic growth and regional integration.
AZERTAC has been actively developing cooperation with China’s leading media outlets. The agency interacts with major media structures such as Xinhua, China Daily, and China Media Group, which includes the CGTN television channel. This cooperation involves the exchange of news content, the implementation of joint informational projects, and participation in international media initiatives. It contributes to expanding Azerbaijan’s presence in the global information space and strengthening media ties between Baku and Beijing, creating a long-term platform for mutual promotion and dialogue between the countries.
