AZERBAIJANI MILITARY SHIPS VISITING CASPIAN FLEET OF RUSSIA

On 26-28 September, several ships of the Azerbaijan Navy visited Caspian fleet of the Russian Federation in Astrakhan. This is the first visit of the CIS member state’s fleet during the existence of the Commonwealth.

This visit can be considered as the beginning phase of strengthening of cooperation between the Russian Navy and Azerbaijan Fleet.

In the course of the visit, commander of the Azerbaijan Fleet, rear admiral Shahin Sultanov met with Russian Navy in the Caspian, rear admiral Yuri Startsev, governor of the Astrakhan province Anatoly Gujvin, and Mayor of Astrakhan Igor Bezrukavnikov. The sides exchanged views on the mutually interesting issues. The meeting ended in a concert with participation of the orchestras of Russian and Azerbaijan fleets.
