Azerbaijan, Algeria discuss energy cooperation

Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov has met with Chairman of the Defense Committee of the People’s National Assembly of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Head of the Algeria-Azerbaijan Friendship Group Gharbi Abdelbasset.
The parties highlighted the role of energy cooperation in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Algeria. They underlined the importance of starting the Joint Working Group in terms of further strengthening of these relations, implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria on cooperation in the field of oil and gas, evaluation of mutual investment opportunities and realization of the potential in the field of energy.
The pair agreed that the Joint Working Group's first meeting, which is scheduled for June as part of "Baku Energy Week," will open up possibilities for collaboration in the fields of and oil and gas, as well as energy efficiency and renewable energy.
The sides also exchanged views on other aspects of bilateral relations.
