ANAS, Pakistan’s Northern University sign MoU

Isa Habibbayli, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), met with Taha Jamil Sawar, a member of the Board of Governors of Pakistan’s Northern University.
Habibbayli highlighted the operation of the Pakistan Literature Center at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature. He noted that the center collects publications on Pakistan in Azerbaijani, Urdu, and English, providing key resources for researchers conducting studies and drafting academic works.
Isa Habibbayli emphasized that Azerbaijani scientists organize joint conferences, projects, and publications with Pakistan's academic institutions.
Works by the prominent Pakistani writer Allama Muhammad Iqbal have been translated from Urdu into Azerbaijani and published alongside a dedicated monograph.
Taha Jamil Sawar expressed strong interest in establishing cooperation to study the Azerbaijani language and literature at Northern University. He proposed creating a dedicated Azerbaijan center at his university, noting that collecting Azerbaijani books and publications at such a center would help disseminate information about Azerbaijan to the Pakistani public, students, and researchers, while further strengthening scientific and cultural ties.
The meeting also featured discussions on cooperation in artificial intelligence. Taha Jamil Sawar provided details on AI research conducted at his university, the activities of its department and research center, as well as the capabilities of its data center.
Habibbayli noted that the Center for Digital Academy, Electronic Services and Artificial Intelligence operates at ANAS, stressing the importance of mutual knowledge sharing in this field.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between ANAS and the Northern University of Pakistan.
