Azerbaijan, World Bank discuss cooperation on CRAIS project

Representatives of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Agriculture and the World Bank met to discuss the preparation of the “Competitive, Resilient Agriculture and Irrigation Services” (CRAIS) project.
The project is aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and increasing the efficiency of services in the irrigation and drainage sectors.
The sides exchanged views on the role and activity areas of the Agricultural Credit and Development Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture within the framework of the project, the scope of project components, financing matters, target geographical regions for implementation, and intended beneficiaries.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zaur Aliyev briefed World Bank representatives on the key priorities of the "State Program for the Development of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Production and Processing in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030."
The deputy minister expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the World Bank toward enhancing the competitiveness and resilience of the agrarian sector, introducing modern financing mechanisms, and implementing new initiatives that serve agricultural development.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties discussed the next stages of the CRAIS project, the execution timeline for planned measures, and future cooperation opportunities.
