Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan enhance cooperation in higher education

A delegation from the State Program Management Group (SPMG) met with representatives of Kazakhstan’s National Center for Higher Education Development under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The meeting focused on expanding academic ties between the higher education systems of the two countries, exchanging experience on the priorities of the “State Program for Education of Azerbaijani Youth at Prestigious Higher Education Institutions Abroad for 2022–2028,” and exploring partnership opportunities in the internationalization of higher education.
During the meeting, Alibek Madibekov, Director of Kazakhstan’s National Center for Higher Education Development presented the country’s higher education development and international integration strategy.
The presentation highlighted Kazakhstan’s role in promoting international academic mobility, the operation of 33 foreign university branches, and dual-degree programs. It was also noted that 20 Kazakh higher education institutions are ranked by QS, including three in the top 400.
The discussions focused on training specialists for the modern labor market, including 44 new programs in artificial intelligence, data analytics, renewable energy, and engineering, as well as flexible curriculum development.
The sides discussed student and academic staff exchange opportunities under Azerbaijan’s 2022–2028 State Program and Kazakhstan’s “Study in Kazakhstan” scholarship program, as well as prospects for joint research.
They also agreed to explore dual-degree programs and cooperation on specialized training programs.
