President of Uzbekistan receives FIFA President

On September 30, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the Uzbekistan National News Agency (UZA) reported.
The FIFA President highlighted Uzbekistan’s achievements in football and the results of effective reforms aimed at providing comprehensive support for sports in the country.
The main agenda item was Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan’s hosting of a major, prestigious sporting event – the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The fruitful cooperation with FIFA to advance joint programs to promote football, particularly among young people, was noted with great satisfaction.
Expanding the partnership, primarily to transform the system of football organization and governance, support the development of young talent, and train coaches, referees, managers, sports doctors, and technical specialists to international standards, was discussed.
Particular attention was paid to hosting major FIFA tournaments and events in Uzbekistan and to accelerating the opening of the federation’s regional office in Tashkent.
