AZERBAIJAN CULTURE CORNER OPENS IN ISRAEL
On the eve of the Day of Solidarity of the World Azerbaijanis, the corner of Azerbaijani Culture has been opened in Israel. The Corner functions at the house of Yegane Salman, head of the committee for protection of the Azerbaijani historical and cultural heritage under the Azerbaijan-Israel International Association (AZIZ) founded by the Israeli citizens from Azerbaijan.
The Corner includes books by Azerbaijani writers, ancient and modern household durables of the Azerbaijanis. Among the exhibits is the score of the opera “Leyli and Majnun” by Uzeyir Hajibeyov, numerous badges collected during over 40 years were gifted to the Corner.
The house contains an ethnic Azeri room. Hand-made carpets with national mattresses, pillows, mutakkas, backgammon, samovar, armudu glasses remind Azerbaijan.
Speaking at the opening of Corner, president of AZIZ, Member of the Israeli Knesset Joseph Shagal stated that the traditions to gather the Bakuvites should be preserved by young generation. Member of AZIZ, professor Fel and others noted necessity of involving the youth to the activity of Diaspora and preservation of links with Azerbaijan.
