Azerbaijan, Romania discuss bilateral relations
They hailed political, economic and humanitarian relations between the two countries as close, and praised the bilateral cooperation within international organizations. They also stressed the role of interparliamentary relations in the development of friendship and partnership between Azerbaijan and Romania.
Mr. Mammadyarov stressed the necessity of elevating relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union to a strategic partnership level, and hailed Romania`s support on this front.
The FM highlighted also the current state of negotiations over the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, and stressed the necessity of ensuring the withdrawal of the Armenian troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. He said official Yerevan continued to disregard the UN Security Council resolutions, which demand an immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian occupational troops from Azerbaijan`s lands.
The meeting was followed by a joint press conference.
