Azeri Deputy FM: EU must have its own position on Karabakh conflict
Baku, February 13 (AZERTAC). “The European Union (EU) must have its own position on the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” Azerbaijani deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev told journalists in Tbilisi.
Commenting on the informal summit of the “Eastern Partnership” program in Tbilisi, the Deputy FM noted that the foreign ministers' meeting was held twice a year as part of the initiative.
Mammadguliyev said the previous meeting was held in Chisinau in 2012, and the summit of the Eastern Partnership on the level of presidents and heads of government would be organized in Lithuania in autumn, 2013.
“Today at the second meeting in Tbilisi we exchanged views on a range of issues, including on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We noted that the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict is the major condition for ensuring the effectiveness of this program. In this case the EU should use its influence and should not confine itself to just supporting OSCE Minsk Group`s activity. The European Union should have its independent position," he added.
