CEC SITTING OVERVIEW

A sitting of the Central Election Commission presided by Mazahir Panahov took place on October 3.
The CEC chairman reported on President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Alirza oglu Aliyev’s candidacy withdrawal. He noted that Mr. Heydar Alirza oglu Aliyev applied to the Central Election Commission for his candidacy withdrawal. The Commission took into consideration Heydar Alirza oglu Aliyev’s request and adopted a relevant decree.
CEC secretary Vidadi Mahmudov reported on Mr. Ali Amirhuseyn oglu Karimov’s candidacy withdrawal. The commission adopted a relevant decree regarding this issue.
Then, CEC deputy chairman Svetlana Gasimova informed on the agenda’s approval for forthcoming zone seminar-consultations arranged for leaders of precinct and district elections commissions and devoted to preparations for upcoming Presidential Elections. CEC members adopted a Decree on agenda’s approval.
The sitting participants considered an issue on registration of 12 envoys nominated by National Independence Party whereupon the decree was adopted.
CEC secretary Ingilab Nasirov reported on making changes to the staff of certain precinct election commissions. The CEC adopted those changes.
Later on, the sitting focused on other issues.
The CEC sitting was attended by representatives of the International Fund for Electoral Systems, OSCE Bureau for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, embassies of France, Japan and local and foreign mass media.
