Enrique Mora: “Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be solved within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan”

“Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be solved within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan”, said Spanish Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Director-General for Foreign Policy and Security Enrique Mora as he met with the Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov as part of the political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Spain.
During the meeting, Khalaf Khalafov lauded the developing cooperation between the two countries, saying, there are favorable opportunities for further developing relations in political, economic, humanitarian, tourism and other spheres.
Noting Azerbaijan is interested in establishing strategic partnership with the European Union, Mr. Khalafov expressed confidence that Spain will support Azerbaijan's efforts in this direction.
Expressing satisfaction with the current level of relations between the two countries, Enrique Mora agreed with his counterpart, praising the high potential for development of cooperation. Enrique Mora noted that his country is interested in the soonest official visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Spain, underlining that Spain is a reliable partner for Azerbaijan both in bilateral format and within international organizations.
Noting that Azerbaijan is an important partner for the EU in the South Caucasus, Mr. Khalafov said the unresolved Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict poses a serious threat to peace and security in the region, stressing the importance of effective steps by significant organizations such as the UN, the European Union and the OSCE for the soonest resolution of the conflict.
Mr. Mora emphasized that territorial integrity and sovereignty of a state are fundamental principles for Spain, adding from this point of view, they support the peaceful settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict only within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
The sides also exchanged views on other bilateral and international issues of mutual interest.
