GOVERNMENT OF GERMANY ALLOCATED €500 THOUSAND FOR DAAD ACTIVITIES IN AZERBAIJAN

The government of Germany has allocated €500 thousand for realization of projects of the German academic exchange service DAAD in Azerbaijan. It was announced by the official representative of DAAD in Azerbaijan, Doctor Ulrike Miller.

She pointed out that these funds would be directed to financing of big group trips of Azerbaijani students to Germany, scholarship to students by DAAD line as well as organization of language courses in Azerbaijan.

In summer of 2003, tens of students of Azerbaijani higher educational establishments had an opportunity to have 1-month German language course in Germany and over 90 citizens applied for studying in German higher institutions by DAAD channel.

It should be reminded that the German service for academic exchange was organized 70 years ago by joint efforts of a few higher institutions of Germany and today go on their activities by means of 13 branches in different regions of the world. The budget of organization exceeds $250 million and is being filled annually at the expense of contributions of the governments of Germany and European Union.
