Kyrgyzstan inaugurates new president Sooronbai Jeenbekov

The ceremony of inauguration of the new president of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov has taken place in the State Residence Ala-Archa.
Sooronbai Jeenbekov swore an oath to the people of Kyrgyzstan, he was handed a certificate, a badge and the standard of the head of state.
Then he delivered an inaugural speech. Almazbek Atambayev made an appeal to the people of Kyrgyzstan and delivered a welcome speech to the elected president.
Then Sooronbai Jeenbekov and Almazbek Atambayev went to the Parliament building, where they were met by a guard of honor, and then to the office of the head of state.
Jeenbekov, 59, a close ally of outgoing Almazbek Atambayev, swore to protect the “unity of the country” as he accepted the national flag and donned a breastplate signifying the presidency.
Jeenbekov scored 54% of the October 15 ballot viewed as Kyrgyzstan’s most competitive election since independence, with oligarch opponent Omurbek Babanov taking more than a third of votes cast.
