"The year 2016 marked positive results for Azerbaijan,” said Prime Minister Artur Rasizade as he addressed the session of the Azerbaijani Parliament.
The year can be characterized as a challenging one in terms of the difficulties in the country's financial and banking sector, said Rasizade, adding that however purposeful measures allowed to cope with the challenges.
“To tackle the situation, President Ilham Aliyev set up the Financial Market Supervisory Chamber and Financial Stability Board in order to improve governance and ensure economic sustainability in the financial sector.” “Well-thought out measures and the effective use of strong economic potential contributed to the stabilization of the economic situation and made it possible to complete the year 2016 with positive results," he added.
