Executive director of UN Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention Antonio Maria Costa met with leaders of law-enforcement Ministries in the Cabinet of Ministries.

Greeting the guest, deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Republic, chairman of the State Commission for counter-drug and illegal drugs turnover Ali Hasanov highly appreciated his visit to Baku and his participation in the 5th Baku meeting of participants the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the regional cooperation for drug control.

Mr. Antonio Maria Costa expressed his satisfaction with the visit to Azerbaijan and meetings and stressed that by making joint efforts it is possible to succeed in the combat against illegal drug turnover, which is the bitterest troubles of humanity today

Having analyzed the accomplishments achieved towards cooperation in drug control the sides discussed the issues of further deepening the cooperation in this direction, establishing agencies for control and stoppage of illegal drug turnover in uncontrolled areas.

The meeting was attended by Minister of National Security Namig Abbasov, Ministrer of Internal Affairs Ramil Usubov, and chairman of the State Customs Committee Kemaleddin Heydarov, chief of State Frontier Service Elchin Guliyev, ambassador of Azerbaijan to Austria Vagif Sadigov.
