MEETING IN SHAMAKHI REGION

A Secretariat of Poverty Reduction and Economic Development Program, working under the Ministry of Economic Development, held a meeting of the working group of different ministries, immediately responsible for the implementation of this program and representatives of the parliament with people of Shamakhi, Agsu and Gobustan regions of Azerbaijan.

At the meeting held in Shamakhi region, they discussed four out of 15 paragraphs of this program - education, ecology, tourism and legal reforms. In conclusion, representatives of public expressed their views and put forward offers on each of these paragraphs.

It should be reminded that the Secretariat of State Poverty Reduction and Economic Development Program has been holding such meeting with public since 2002. Last year it held five meetings in different regions.

This function in Shamakhi is the fifth in 2003. Beginning with July, such meetings were held in Guba, Bakhchivan, Shaki and Masalli regions.

The meetings are being held with the assistance of the United States International Agency for Development. UN Development Program, and German Technical Cooperation Society.
