Mazahir Panahov: 894 international observers will monitor Azerbaijani presidential elections

Baku, April 10, AZERTAC
“894 international observers will be monitoring the presidential elections in the Republic of Azerbaijan. They are citizens of 59 countries, representing 61 international organizations,” CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov said at a press conference.
He mentioned that all conditions have been created for observers to monitor the voting.
“Web cameras were installed in 20 percent of the country's polling stations, that is 1,000 polling stations, in connection with the presidential election. Any internet user can watch the voting process live on the official website of the CEC on the election day," he said.
Panahov noted that 118 representatives of 51 international media outlets will be covering the forthcoming 11 April presidential elections. He said four organizations will conduct exit-polls during the presidential elections, among which are international electoral experts from the US and France.
“The polling stations will open at 8 o’clock in the morning. The Central Election Commission will disclose the initial information on voting process and voter turnout at least 5 times throughout the day.”
The CEC chairman mentioned that security should be ensured on the voting day, and the police authorities are responsible for this task: “The Central Election Commission has conducted a seminar-consultation involving law-enforcement agencies, and the measures to be taken on the voting day were discussed at the meeting. I think that no unpleasant incident will occur tomorrow”.
