Minister: Some 537 km of highways and rural roads were constructed or repaired last year

Baku, February 14 (AZERTAC). “Some 537 km of local highways and rural roads were constructed or repaired last year,” economic development minister Shahin Mustafayev told a conference on the outcomes of the 4th year of implementation of “The State Program on Socio-Economic Development of the Regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2009-2013”.

He noted: “Twenty-five new bridges and tunnels were built in the country in 2012.”

“Repair work was carried out on rural highways and roads in 85 residential areas with the total population of 141,000 people in 11 districts,” Mustafayev said.

“Last year we embarked on 18 projects, and this year will complete construction of 634 km of rural roads and repair of 42 bridges, which link 400 residential areas with the total population of 450,000 people in 18 districts,” the Minister added.
