Qalyubia Governor: Azerbaijan and Egypt are bound together by close ties of friendship and brotherhood

“Azerbaijan and Egypt are bound together by close ties of friendship and brotherhood,” said governor of Egypt's Qalyubia Governorate Alaa Abdul-Halim Mohammed Marzouk, who is attending the 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum, during his meeting with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov.
He expressed Egypt’s keenness to develop bilateral ties with Azerbaijan in various spheres of economy, including agricultural, tourism, industrial, agrarian, and humanitarian ones. He described the sistership relations between Qalyubia Governorate and Absheron district, the opening of Azerbaijan-Egypt friendship park in Absheron, Qalyubia street and an Egyptian school in Khirdalan as well as the Heydar Aliyev Park, Azerbaijan street and a school named after First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva in Qalyubia as indicative of friendship between the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov hailed the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt as excellent. He described the visit of the head of Qalyubia Governorate to Azerbaijan and his participation in the Baku International Humanitarian Forum as contribution to the friendly relations between the two countries.
Providing an insight into the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the deputy prime minister noted that as a result of Armenia’s occupation of 20 per cent of the Azerbaijani territories, more than a million of Azerbaijanis were displaced from their native lands. Saying that Egypt has always supported Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, Deputy PM Ahmadov added that this issue is of crucial importance to Azerbaijan.
