RUSSIA CRITICIZED AT THE OSCE MAASTRICHT CONFERENCE
Delegation of Russia resolutely stated that the Country has not pledged such obligation, and if even it pledged, and would not fulfill it further. After hot debates, the OSCE Acting Chairman, foreign minister of the Netherlands Yaap de Hoop Scheffer read out the final declaration of the conference on arguable issues. The Declaration runs that though 55 states – OSCE member, for the first time could not reach common decision, majority of the member-states backed the principle of inviolability of territorial integrity of Georgia and sending international peacemakers to Moldova, thus, express its discord with the position of Russia, impeding peaceful regulation of the conflicts. There were also proposals to isolate Russia from OSCE.
“As the continued hot debates connected with position of Russia related to Georgia and Moldova, paralyzed work of conference, discussion of the agreement on combat against terrorism, illegal sale and circulation of weapons, against man trafficking, was postponed”, the “Frankfurt Algemaine” writes.
