SOLEMN COMMISSIONING CEREMONY OF TANKER ‘PROFESSOR AZIZ ALIYEV’ ANDOPENING YACHT CLUB
Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev participated in the ceremony. The Prime Minister greeted employees of the Caspian Shipping Company and foreign guests. He cut the red ribbon symbolizing official commissioning of the tanker and opening of the Yacht Club. After Captain Faik Khalilov’s report on the tanker “Professor Aziz Aliyev”’ trim, the Prime Minister familiarized himself closer with it. He was informed that the tanker had been constructed in accordance with agreement between the Caspian Shipping Company and “Krasnoe Sormovo” plant in the Russian city of Nizhniy Novgorod where the sate flag of Azerbaijan was solemnly hoisted on August 18. This first of the four vessels ordered by the Caspian Shipping Company, has the length of 141 meters, beam 16,9 meters, is able to transport 8 thousand tons of oil and oil products, and modern technical equipment and operated by computer system produced in UK.
Prime-Minister Ilham Aliyev signed the Honored Guests Books and pressed the button symbolizing the start of the tanker’s operation.
Later, Ilham Aliyev arrived at the National Park to be closer acquainted with the Yacht Club, where made a speech at a solemn opening ceremony. He congratulated the ceremony participants on both events describing them as very important in the life of the country, and noted, in particular that for the last few years, the activity of the Caspian Shipping Company had reached the very high level; Ilham Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Company had renovated the fleet at its own expenses.
“I am very pleased that this tanker is named after outstanding statesman, great scientist, careful doctor, my grandfather Aziz Aliyev. But I think the commissioning of this tanker is very important not only for the company but also for our economy as a whole. This is a part of the Heydar Aliyev’s oil strategy”, he said.
Present at the ceremony were Chief of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, First Deputy Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh, Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov, Head of the Baku Executive Power Hajibala Abutalibov and other officials.
