Suicide bombing in Lahore kills 6, Pakistan Taliban claims attack

Four Pakistani soldiers were among six people killed in an attack by a suicide bomber on army men escorting a census team in Lahore, the Hindustan Times said.

The Pakistani Taliban claimed the attack which also injured 18 others. Muhammad Khurassani, a spokesperson for Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a banned Islamist movement often called the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility in a statement.

Security officials cordoned off the area on Bedian Road near a Cantonment area in the bustling capital of Punjab province after the blast, which rescue officials said occurred just before 8:00 am local time.
