AIDA, UNESCAP sign MoU on cooperation

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), on the sidelines of the 82nd session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) held in Bangkok.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCAP.
Jeyhun Bayramov stressed Azerbaijan's growing role on regional and international platforms. He highlighted Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the summit marking the 25th anniversary of the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia in 2023, as well as the successful hosting of COP29 in 2024.
The meeting focused on the strategic importance of cooperation within the framework of the Middle Corridor, as well as opportunities for future cooperation between UNESCAP and SPECA countries.
The sides also exchanged views on other global developments and challenges of mutual interest.
The parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and UNESCAP.
