ATF PRESIDENT MEETS WITH OLYMPIANS

Chairman of the State Customs Committee, President of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation /ATF/ Kamaladdin Heydarov received on 5 August world taekwondo champions Niyamaddin Pashayev and Rashad Ahmadov who are going to participate at the XXVIII Olympic Games in Athens.

ATF president noted that Azerbaijan had scored much success in sports for recent years due to inestimable services of President o f Azerbaijan, president of the National Olympic Committee Ilham Aliyev.

Evaluatiing present situation of the sports, K. Heydarov stressed that the number of Azerbaijani athletes at Olympic games rose from 31 in Sydney up to 38 in Athens.

K. Heydarov stressed that necessary facilities provided for Azerbaijani taekwondists and launch of Taekwondo Center “Musado” is the manifestation of care shown for Azerbaijani athletes.

ATF president expressed his confidence in successful performances of Azerbaijani at Olympic games in Athens.

World champions Niyamaddin Pashayev, Rashad Ahmadov, vice-president ATF vice-president Fuzuli Musayev assured president that they would do their best to justify hopes.

Maftun Salmanov who won a bronze June 12 in a world championship among young taekwondists in South Korea updated ATF president on the bouts.
