August marked the sixth day "Doctors of the World - for Peace"
Baku, August 6 (AZERTAC). August 6 is an International day, which was proposed by the organization "Doctors of the World by preventing the nuclear threat." celebrating the anniversary date of the Japanese bombing of Hiroshima August 6, 1945.
This day, in a sense is symbolic and serves as a reminder of this human tragedy, the role of doctors in the struggle for peace and preventing war in general. The organization celebrates this day with their daily work.
This organization originated in 1980 in France as a result of separation from other well-known international organization "Doctors Without Borders." Since large department "Doctors of the World" appeared in twelve countries including USA, Sweden and the Netherlands.
This year marks the 65th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Perhaps the most tragic day in the history of human civilization, USA dropped nuclear bomb on Hiroshima on August 6th in 1945. It was a devastating attack that completely changed the world. It is estimated that more than 2,00,000 people lost their lives. Many people are still reeling under the effect of nuclear detonation. On this day, various events are planned and organized all over the world to show the ghastly aftereffects of the attack.
The attack left many innocent souls injured and suffering. It took Hiroshima years to recover from the effects of the nuclear explosion. More than anything, the day left a deep psychological scar in the minds of residents of Hiroshima. Many families are still affected with radiation. Over the past 65 years, the Journey of Death has continued to claim victims. The only consolation for the world is non-repeat of any such acts since that fateful day in August 1945. The world has constantly suffered from the fear of nuclear war between powerful nations. The number of countries having nuclear weapon ability has kept on increasing which has made world a dangerous place to live in. Many rogue countries have kept testing nuclear weapons and the efforts to completely destroy these weapons of death have not resulted in any fruitful conclusion.
Considering the proliferation of nuclear weapons, human civilization is vulnerable to random attacks. These weapons are capable of ending civilization and complex life on the planet. We don’t have any reasons to have these death machines in our arsenal. The world will be a far better place without them. August 6 keeps reminding us of deadly consequences of nuclear weapons. People all over the world organize peace rallies supporting the abolition of nuclear missiles. Candle lighting ceremonies are held on Hiroshima Day. Speeches are made against dangerous war games. World need to wake up to these possible dangers facing our future generations.
