Azerbaijan, Brazil discuss bilateral ties

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has today met committee chairman of the Federal Senate of Brazil`s National Congress and head of Brazil-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group Cristovam Buarque to discuss relations between the two countries.
During the meeting they hailed the development of the political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Brazil, and stressed the great potential for the promotion of economic and trade relations.
The sides commended the activity of interparliamentary friendship group between the two countries and highlighted the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in the development of bilateral relations.
Pointing out Azerbaijan's tradition of tolerance and its contributions to the interreligious and intercultural dialogue, Cristovam Buarque stressed the importance of the 7th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations which will be held in Baku on 25-27 April 2016.
Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov noted that Azerbaijan attaches importance to developing its relations with Brazil, and underlined the role of high level reciprocal visits for strengthening the bilateral ties.
