Azerbaijan joins 6th meeting of Asia-Europe Political Forum

A delegation of Azerbaijan participated in the 6th meeting of the Asia-Europe Political Forum (AEPF) held in Budapest, Hungary.
The Azerbaijani delegation included Shahin Ismayilov, Member of the Board of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee of the Milli Majlis, Chairman of the Asian Cultural Council of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP); Mushfig Jafarov, co-founder of the “Bridge to the Future” Youth Public Union, Member of the Milli Majlis; and Mahammad Shirinov, leading analyst at the International Relations and Humanitarian Affairs Department of the YAP Central Apparatus.
The delegation first attended an official reception organized by the Friends of Connectivity Foundation, with Hungarian Minister for European Affairs János Boka as a distinguished guest, on November 27.
On November 28, the delegation joined the 6th AEPF meeting under the theme “Peace and Democracy in Eurasia.” Opening remarks were delivered by Rajan Bhattarai, Member of the ICAPP Standing Committee and Central Committee of the Communist Party of Nepal; Jan Zahradil, AEPF Co-Chairman and Chairman of the Center for Asia-Pacific Studies at CEVRO University; and Chung Eui-yong, Chairman of the ICAPP Standing Committee.
During the event’s second plenary session, Shahin Ismayilov emphasized Azerbaijan’s crucial role in ensuring peace and sustainable development in the South Caucasus. He highlighted the country’s ongoing restoration efforts in its liberated territories following the restoration of its territorial integrity and underscored the initialing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington, noting President Ilham Aliyev’s decisive role in the process.
The meeting concluded with the adoption of the Budapest Declaration.
