Baku, May 12, AZERTAC
A delegation of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), led by Tahir Budagov, YAP Deputy Chairman and Head of the Central Office, visited China.
As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation met with Zheng Jianbang, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.
The meeting underscored that Azerbaijan–China relations are grounded in historical roots, mutual trust, and a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The officials highlighted that both countries’ leaders place particular emphasis on fostering interstate relations.
They stressed that both countries are striving to foster multifaceted cooperation focusing on the utilization of existing potential across various domains, namely economy, trade, transport, logistics, tourism, green energy, digital technologies, and other areas. This interaction follows in line with the “Joint Statement on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People’s Republic of China” signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to China in April 2025.
Tahir Budagov also added that Azerbaijan unequivocally supports the One China policy.
Zheng Jianbang noted that China supports Azerbaijan’s just position, as well as the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The officials also underscored the significance of the Zangezur Corridor and the Belt and Road Initiative.
They expressed confidence that the upcoming 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), set to take place in Baku on May 17, involving the Chinese delegation, would play a crucial role in addressing urban planning issues at the international level.
The discussions noted that Chinese companies could contribute to the ongoing large-scale reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, based on modern urban planning concepts, by using their innovative technologies.
During the visit, the YAP delegation also toured the Communist Party of China Party School in Beijing, as well as the Xiaomi Auto Super Factory.
