Azerbaijan`s Youth and Sport Minister to participate in 12th Council of Europe conference of ministers
Baku, March 14 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Youth and Sport Minister Azad Rahimov will attend the 12th Council of Europe conference of ministers responsible for sports affairs, to be held in Belgrade, Serbia on Thursday.
One of the two major themes to be discussed at the conference is the promotion of the integrity of sport in order to fight match-fixing. A specific international convention is also expected to come up for negotiation on the integrity of sports, which will involve the participation and contribution of sports ministers from various European countries.
The conference will focus on pan-European cooperation on sports and strengthening the monitoring mechanisms of the European Convention on spectator violence.
The conference will be held as part of the activities of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS), while speakers such as Ewa Marcowicz, chair of the Governing Board of EPAS, Francesco Ricci Bitti, president of the International Tennis Federation, and Philippe de Koster, general prosecutor and vice president of the Financial Investigation Unit of Belgium, will deliver speeches on how to maintain the integrity of sport.
The famous former footballer and current president of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), Michel Platini, will be making the concluding remarks of the conference.
