Then, Chairman of Milli Majlis Murtuz Alaskarov received the delegation. Having warmly welcomed the guests, Mr. Alaskarov touched on the friendly relations established between the two countries.
The Chairman stated that documents related to the development of relations in all spheres signed after the official visit of Azerbaijan President Heydar Aliyev to Japan, in 1998 opened a new stage in the relations. Today, cultural and economic links between the two countries are on the required level.
Some authoritative Japanese companies made investments in different spheres of Azerbaijan economy. Due to the grants and lax credits allocated by government of Japan, some important projects have been implemented. As the result of the reforms, carried out in Azerbaijan, the Government could achieve much more successes, but the Armenian aggressive policy impedes it. Armenia occupied 20% of Azerbaijani lands and over million people live under hard conditions. The OSCE Minsk group studies conflict over 10 years. Armenia up to now ignores UN Council Security’s 4 resolutions and decision signed by 53 states at OSCE Lisbon Summit. The reason is that the international organizations, as well as super powers do not undertake strict actions regarding the aggressor. Azerbaijan is for peaceful solution of the conflict in accordance with the international norms in frame of the territorial integrity of the Country.
Having thanked for a warm reception, Mr. Shoji Motooka conveyed to Mr. Alaskarov the greetings of Chairman of the Japanese Parliament and invitation to visit Japan. The guest said that relations between Japan and Azerbaijan were highly developing. Japan wishes establishment of peace all over the world, the Caucasus, as well. Japan is for peaceful resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabkh conflict.
The guest noted that Japan pretends for leadership of the Inter-parliamentary Union Executive Committee. Mr. Alaskarov noted that Azerbaijan would render any assistance in that.
The sides discussed other issues of mutual interest.
The reception was attended by first Deputy Chairman of Milli Majlis Arif Rahimzade, deputies Ziyafat Askarov, Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, head of Milli Majlis Administration, Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan.
