European Athletics Conference kicks off in Baku

A conference of senior officials from European Athletics member federations has commenced in Baku.
At the opening ceremony, Dobromir Karamarinov, President of European Athletics, commended the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation for its active role and high-level organization. Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov highlighted the significance of such events, while President of the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation Javid Gurbanov welcomed participants to Baku and wished the conference success.
Following the opening ceremony, European Athletics CEO Christian Milz presented updates on the organization’s strategic roadmap, including new initiatives on fan engagement and digitalization. Representatives from Slovenia, Spain, and Denmark then shared insights on implementing the roadmap across member federations.
During a leadership ethics session, participants discussed issues related to competition manipulation, security, conflict of interest management, as well as strategies for digital transformation and data-driven monetization for member federations.
The conference, which brings together 50 delegates from 32 countries, will conclude on April 16.
