Foreign Minister: Azerbaijan consistently expands its multimodal connectivity
Baku, May 19, AZERTAC
“Building upon its internationally recognized role as one of the primary promoters of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) and the North-South Corridor, Azerbaijan consistently promotes the development of multimodal transport connectivity as an integral part of its post-conflict strategy,” said Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, during his speech at the event themed “Cities at the Center of Connectivity: Urban Reconstruction and Regional Cooperation,” held as part of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
“The Washington Declaration, signed in August 2025, laid the foundation for the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity. This initiative will not only ensure unimpeded multimodal connectivity between the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, but will also create a new strategic connection line linking Asia and Europe via railways, highways, energy pipelines, power grids, and fiber-optic cables,” the Minister emphasized.
According to him, the Horadiz-Agband railway and Türkiye's new Kars-Iğdır-Dilucu railway line will complement the Zangezur corridor, thereby strengthening regional connectivity and further consolidating the links between Asia and Europe.
