Francis Carroll: Indigenous population of Martinique decreasing according to plan
Paris, March 30, AZERTAC
“It marks national activist Hervé Pinto`s third arrest. Two erroneous arguments have been brought against him. Firstly, we witness a breach of judicial control, exemplified by the requisition of all grantor retained annuity trust (GRAT) lands under this pretext. The second “argument” claims that Hervé Pinto seeks to restore justice. This undermines the presumption of innocence.
The initial argument disregards existing court rulings. During his arrest, national activist Hervé Pinto was forbidden to visit the 'La Pageri' farm. When his lawyer clarified that he hadn't visited the farm, the judge acknowledged this but upheld the arrest without clear justification. It's evident that Hervé Pinto's arrest stems from his political beliefs rather than any failure to meet obligations," said Martinique Assembly MP Luc Francis Carroll in an interview with AZERTAC.
"Clearly, Hervé Pinto's arrest is a politically motivated decision by the French state. Interestingly, 90 percent of the residents of the 'La Pageri' farm are of white descent, and their role in maintaining relations with the French state is crucial. Hence, the judicial decisions are unacceptable. They demonstrate that this land rightfully belongs to Hervé Pinto's ancestors. It's evident that political dictate, not judicial decision, is being applied," emphasized Luc Francis Carroll.
He stressed that Martinique's core issue lies in exploiting its fertile lands. "Anyone can come and purchase land here, while the local population of Martinique, due to poverty, cannot afford to do so. The decline in the local population, at the expense of newcomers, amounts to genocide. The French population in Martinique is increasing while the local population is dwindling," added the MP.
