INTERNATIONAL BOXING TOURNAMENT ROUNDED IN BAKU
Final bouts of the international boxing tournament among teenagers of 1987-1989s dedicated to the nationwide leader President Heydar Aliyev’s memory were held at the National Olympic Committee, May 10, 2004.
The tournament organized by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism, National Olympic Committee, Boxing Federation of Azerbaijan brought together 134 youngsters from 10 countries (Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Georgia, Great Britain, Germany and Sweden) competing in 13 weight classes.
Azerbaijani national team ranked first, the Russians – second, the Turkish athletes – third, press-service of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism reported.
