JOINT MEETING OF EUROPEAN AZERBAIJANIS CONGRESS AND AZERBAIJANI-TURKISH DIASPORA ORGANIZATIONS COORDINATION COUNCIL WRAPS UP IN FRANKFURT
Baku, November 23 (AZERTAC). A two-day joint meeting of the European Azerbaijanis Congress and Azerbaijani-Turkish Diaspora Organizations Coordination Council ended on Sunday in Frankfurt, Germany, press service of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora (SCWD) said.
The event were attended by chief of the socio-political department of Azerbaijan Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov, Milli Majlis deputy speaker Bahar Muradova, chairman of SCWD Nazim Ibrahimov, MPs, scientists and others.
The meeting`s second session entitled “integration of Azerbaijan and Turkey into the globalizing world: realities, problems and perspectives” was chaired by Ali Hasanov. Participants heard reports by Turkish parliamentarian Osman Kaptan, Bahar Muradova, Nazim Ibrahimov, former member of the German Bundestag Hakki Keskin and others.
During the third session of the event, Nazim Ibrahimov spoke of the history of relationship between Azerbaijan and Turkey. He said Azerbaijan has always supported Turkey and will do it further.
According to Ibrahimov, opening of border with Armenia would have negative impact on Turkey`s positions both in the region and the world.
He also expressed assurance that the Turkish people backs Azerbaijan`s stance, and is committed to the “historical fraternity”.
Member of Milli Majlis Fazil Mustafayev delivered a report on increasing public and political activities of Azerbaijani and Turkish communities abroad.
He said initiatives towards coordinating activities of Turkish and Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations are one of the successes of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy.
The meeting culminated in adoption of an address to the Azerbaijani and Turkish presidents.
“We strongly oppose ratification of the protocols signed between Turkey and Armenia until the occupied territories of Azerbaijan are freed, internally displaced persons return to their homes and Armenia gives up the so-called genocide idea and territorial claims against Turkey”, the address says.
