MP: Azerbaijan is of great importance to Iran
Tehran, November 8, AZERTAC “Developing relations with the neighboring countries is a priority for the Iranian government, and Azerbaijan takes a special place among the neighbors,” member of the Commission for National Security and Foreign Policy at the Iranian parliament Javad Jahangirzadeh has said.
According to Fars news agency, Mr. Jahangirzadeh described Iran and Azerbaijan as “friendly and fraternal countries”. According to him, friendly ties between the presidents of the two countries lay groundwork for the development of bilateral relations between Iran and Azerbaijan.
The MP said Azerbaijan-Iran trade has made up $500 mln, adding this figure falls short of the existing potential. He added the figure must be dramatically increased. Mr. Jahangirzadeh said there is a huge opportunity for developing economic ties between Iran and Azerbaijan.
