Dashkasan, July 31, AZERTAC
As part of AZERTAC’s travel series “If I Were a Tourist,” the Amirvar Waterfall in Dashkasan takes center stage.
Nestled in the northeast of the Lesser Caucasus, at an elevation of 1,600–1,800 meters above sea level, the Amirvar Waterfall is one of the most captivating natural sights in the Dashkasan district. Located about 20 kilometers from the district center, the waterfall is surrounded by lush green mountains that create a serene, almost untouched atmosphere.
The journey to Amirvar is just as enchanting as the destination itself. Before reaching the site, travelers pass through flower-filled meadows and dense forests. Vehicles can drive up to within 350 meters of the waterfall, followed by a short 10-minute walk to reach the site.
Locals affectionately refer to the waterfall as “Shir-shir”—a natural wonder that dazzles in every season. Its water, formed by the Ayrichay River flowing over shallow rocks, produces a soothing sound that blends harmoniously with the stillness of the surrounding forest.
As sunlight strikes the cascading water, droplets reflect red and golden hues, creating a mesmerizing play of light that leaves visitors in awe. Whether bathed in spring blossoms, summer green, autumn gold, or winter frost, Amirvar Waterfall remains a year-round spectacle—a place that calms the soul and stirs the senses.
