OIC welcomes formation of Palestinian committee to administer the Gaza Strip

Pakistan has been formally invited by the United States President Donald Trump to be a part of the Gaza Board of Peace.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday confirmed that the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has received the invitation from the US President to join the Board of Peace on Gaza. On the other hand, the OIC has welcomed the formation of Palestinian Committee to Administer the Gaza Strip.
The Spokesperson of the Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tahir Hussain Andrabi in response to media queries stated that Pakistan will remain engaged with international efforts for peace and security in Gaza, leading to a lasting solution to the Palestine issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
He said the Prime Minister of Pakistan has received the invitation from the President of the United States to join the Board of Peace on Gaza. Earlier, many other world leaders and well known personalities have received letters to join the US led Board of Peace initiative that would initially aim to end conflict in Gaza.
According to the White House announcement, founding executive members of the Board of Peace include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. Other members include Marc Rowan, CEO of Apollo Global Management, President of the World Bank Ajay Banga and US Deputy National Security Adviser Robert Gabriel.
Turkey has also confirmed receiving a formal invitation sent to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan by the US President Donald Trump. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and many other world leaders have been also invited to join the Board of Peace on Gaza. President Trump has earlier said that he was backing the newly appointed Palestinian technocratic government to run Gaza during its transition, supported by the High Representative and the Board of Peace. The initiative is expected to oversee a broader US 20-point plan aimed at ending the Gaza war and reshaping post-conflict governance.
Meanwhile, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in a statement in Jeddah has welcomed the start of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan under UN Security Council Resolution 2803, as well as the announcement of the formation of the Palestinian committee to administer the Gaza Strip as a temporary transitional body.
