Pakistan and Belarus to boost bilateral ties

Pakistan and Belarus have vowed to boost bilateral relations including ties in trade and commerce. This was agreed during a meeting between Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the visiting President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The President of Belarus is in Islamabad on a three day official visit to Pakistan. Following their bilateral meeting and delegation-level talks, addressing a joint press conference, both the leaders said that Pakistan and Belarus had reached an agreement to solidify the relations and convert them into agreements by February 2025.
Both the countries will work for the early realization of bilateral accords to enhance cooperation in trade, agriculture, food, defence and Information technology to boost the bilateral relations. Earlier, both leaders witnessed the exchange of important agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the signing of the “Roadmap for Comprehensive Cooperation between Pakistan and Belarus for 2025-2027,” which outlines a strategic framework for enhancing economic ties through high-level meetings, inter-governmental commissions, and targeted collaborative initiatives.
Earlier, Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko held a bilateral meeting in capital Islamabad. The Prime Minister, while warmly welcoming the Belarusian President said that Pakistan greatly valued its relationship with Belarus. During the meeting, the Pakistani PM expressed the hope that Belarus President’s visit to Pakistan would help open new avenues for bilateral cooperation and partnership.
The President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko arrived in Islamabad on Monday for a three-day official visit to Pakistan. A 68-member high-level delegation from Belarus is also in the Pakistani capital. The delegation is being led by Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov. 43 prominent business personalities of Belarus are also part of the delegation. The visit of the President of Belarus reflects the strong and growing partnership between Pakistan and Belarus.
It is worth mentioning that Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize Belarus after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.This relationship has continued to grow with frequent high-level exchanges and robust collaboration in economic, industrial and agriculture sectors.
